Boudoir photography can be relatively pricey for several reasons:

1. Specialized Expertise: Boudoir photographers often specialize in creating intimate and sensual images that require a unique skill set. They need to understand lighting, composition, posing, and editing techniques tailored to this genre.

2. Quality Equipment: Professional photographers invest in high-quality cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment to ensure the best results. This equipment can be expensive.

3. Time and Effort: Boudoir sessions typically involve extensive preparation, including wardrobe consultations, hair and makeup, and set design. The actual photo session can take several hours, and post-processing and editing are time-consuming.

4. Privacy and Discretion: Boudoir photographers prioritize their clients' privacy and confidentiality. This might involve extra measures to protect and secure the images, which can increase costs.

5. Studio Space and Props: OWNING or renting a studio space and acquiring props or accessories that suit the boudoir style can add to the overall cost.

6. Professionalism: A reputable boudoir photographer often invests in ongoing education, training, and professional memberships to stay up-to-date with industry trends and deliver high-quality results.

7. Limited Clientele: Boudoir photography caters to a specific clientele, and photographers may not have as many clients as those in more mainstream genres. This can lead to higher prices to cover operating costs.

8. Artistic Value: Many clients value boudoir photography as a form of artistic expression and empowerment, which can justify a higher price tag for a personalized and unique experience.

It's important to note that pricing can vary widely based on the photographer's experience, location, and the specific package or services offered. While it may seem pricey, many clients find that the investment in boudoir photography is worth it for the confidence, empowerment, and beautiful images they receive. It's a personal choice, and clients should choose a photographer whose style and pricing align with their expectations and budget.

If you’ve read my post titled Body Image and the C word, then you get why I’m passionate about breast cancer and supporting women who are working to rebuild their lives and their bodies after surgery.

And, I guess, I just really think that every woman deserves to be sexually empowered and to love the body she lives in.

That’s why when Dr. Kamakshi Zeidler asked me to take sensual photos of the breast reconstruction clients ,I jumped at the chance. By the end of the 2 day photoshoot, I had the opportunity to meet and capture 38 women with amazing stories to tell.  Some of their stories will be featured here throughout the month, so check back for more.

The photos will be on display at the Breast Reconstruction Awareness ( BRA ) day gala Dr. Zeidler is hosting on October 13th at the beautiful Hotel Valencia in Santana Row. This annual event is open to the public and honors all of Dr. Z’s clients and their families.  If you’d like to attend, tickets can be purchased at cancercarepoint_braday2016.eventbrite.com Come say HI as I will be there wearing my favorite piece of couture, SONY.

I can’t even begin to tell you what a thrill it was to donate my time and team to helping these women rediscover their strong sexy selves.  The photoshoot was a  marathon with plenty of challenges along the way; we even lost power for a few hours in the middle of the hair/makeup as well as the strobes during the photoshoot. Just a bit of chaos. But, me and my super team pulled it off, and the women were troopers. Hey, if they can beat breast cancer and then the reconstruction process… they can handle a little creative hair drying techniques. Thanks to my beauty team!!

We started on Saturday morning and did 38 shoots by Sunday afternoon. Then I lightly edited them all and began sitting with each woman 3 days later to review her images and choose her complimentary 8×10 print . That is hard work, sure!  But I think it’s worth it, because every woman deserves to own a sultry artist print of herself, showing off her beautiful magical body. And I’m just the woman to give these spectacularly sexy women survivors that fun liberating experience.

The Naked Truth: Bridal Boudoir: A Sensuous Celebration or Shameless Spectacle?

The sweet scent of rebellion lingers in the air as brides-to-be across the globe embrace a daring trend that has tongues wagging and husbands hot under the collar.

Welcome to the risqué world of Bridal Boudoir, where lacy lingerie, smoldering gazes, and tasteful nudity intertwine to create photographic masterpieces that are both empowering and utterly mesmerizing. While this seductive art form isn't exactly a new concept, it has undeniably skyrocketed in popularity in recent years on the bridal scene.

Teresa Nora Trobbe, a seasoned Californian Boudoir photographer has redefined the art of capturing naked beauty for over three decades. With her visionary ideas, she immortalizes the essence of women in all their captivating forms, celebrating the diverse tapestry of shapes, sizes, and personalities they possess.

As a pioneer and leader in her craft, Teresa has captured the hearts of countless individuals who have stepped into her 3-story San Jose based studio.

ORIGINS OF BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY

Boudoir photography, originating in France, flourished during the Roaring Twenties, when women embraced their newfound liberation and sought to immortalize their beauty in sensual portraits. Over the years, it has evolved into a celebration of self-love, confidence, and the exploration of personal sensuality, allowing individuals to bask in their unique radiance and embrace the extraordinary narrative of their own lives.

THE EFFECTS OF BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE INDIVIDUAL

The experience of being professionally photographed in intimate settings helps individuals feel empowered, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. Every person is unique, and boudoir sessions allow for personal style, personality, and preferences to shine through. Whether it's selecting lingerie, choosing a location, or incorporating personal props or themes, individuals have the freedom to create a personalized experience that reflects their true selves, promoting self-expression and self-discovery.

In a world that often promotes unrealistic beauty standards, boudoir photography offers an antidote by celebrating bodies of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Professional boudoir photographers possess the skills to capture the best angles and showcase the beauty and sensuality of each individual. Through the artistry of lighting, composition, and posing techniques, boudoir photography focuses on accentuating the positive features and fostering a positive body image for the participants.

Unlocking the Perfect Shot: The Art of Collaborating with a Master Photographer

The significance of working alongside an esteemed photographer cannot be overstated. As the adage goes, "Experience is everything in this game," a sentiment powerfully echoed by the venerable Teresa. With a remarkable 3 decades of industry expertise under her belt, Teresa stands as a guiding light, having gracefully nurtured countless women through her lens. She possesses an unrivaled ability to discern and immortalize the captivating essence of each subject, enabling them to emerge as the true heroes of their narratives.

“Photography, much like any art form, demands a delicate interplay of technical prowess, artistic vision, and empathetic understanding.” Says Teresa.  It is within this trinity of qualities that Teresa has flourished, crafting a peerless legacy in her field

Is Boudoir Photography expensive?

A Boudoir photography session encompasses a wide range of pricing options, typically ranging from $500 to $6000. The cost is intricately tied to the expertise and proficiency of the photographer chosen. The outcome of such a session greatly varies, owing to the fact that excelling as a boudoir photographer demands far more than mere technical camera proficiency. “I typically charge around $595 for a session, and this includes use of my 3-story .5 acres studio , professional hair and makeup plus the 2-3 hour shoot time,  3-5 wardrobe changes, access to my closet & props and much more.” says Teresa. Let's face it, we all love digital photography.

Being able to shoot and view multiple images of the same subject makes taking great shots a thrill, and frankly, not that hard. It also fills your camera or phone with images that are not quite perfect. So, how do I choose from the hundreds of images that I take during a sensual photo shoot? I cull them.

My Clients hire me because they like my style of sensual photography. During the photo shoot, they ask for my eye, vision, and opinions about poses and lighting. They tell me what areas of their bodies that they want to show and not show, and I respect their sensitivities. Most importantly they trust me to bring out and capture in my camera the sensual, beguiling, seductive parts of themselves that they rarely, if ever, get to see. And that is why I shoot so many images during a sensual photo session. I need to catch the moments where light, pose, angle and emotion come together to create the sultry images we're working towards. Culling through the images after the shoot is the way I find those perfect raw shots that I can massage to expose the sexy gems within.

Take a look at this raw image straight from the camera.

The pose is great, the lighting is solid, the angle is good and emotion is provocative. There is a gem hidden in this image, can you see it? We just need to do a little digging to unleash it.

Let your eye wander around the image and notice where it is drawn. What is grabbing your attention?

I see the vintage window, the blue panties, and a classic black patent leather stiletto at the end of a curving leg. What I don't 'see' is the woman. We want to see the woman.

My first question is, what is the color adding to this sultry image? In my opinion, nothing. All that color is distracting my eye from the woman.

That's why this image screams Black and White!

Black and White photography has its own seductive quality. It can make a provocative image classic with, thanks to digital cameras, just the click of a button. It does this by bringing out the contrast between the shadows and light. And those contrasts work perfectly on the long curves of the female form.

Now that gorgeous woman is the focus of the image. The distractions are gone and your eye can move along the line that starts with the rise of her glutes and flows down to the tip of her pointed toe and stiletto heel. Steamy is an understatement.

I did one more thing to really make this gem of an image sparkle. I added a few small luminous touches of light to the skin along that leg to enhance the shadow/light contrasts that were already there. These small spots of light help to draw your eye down her leg. This is not retouching, I didn't change her skin or the shape of her leg. I only sharpened the contrast of light and shadows. So both versions of this photo are Un-Retouched.

"Wow! That's me?... I'm Hot!"

For now, know that for most of my clients, coming back to view their images is more nerve racking than the actual photo session. That is the biggest reason I really take my time culling each image and pulling out the gems. I want to hear my client say, "Wow! That's me?... I'm Hot!" to each un-retouched image I show her. So that she will feel thrilled about her body and herself when she chooses the images for her Sensual Photo Book. I want her to know deep down that she is ravishing and flawless. I want her to be proud of who she the next time she shows off her sexual, playful, naughty self. And I especially want her to be excited to share her images and experience over and over again.

One more important step in the culling process is cropping the image. Cropping can make a questionable image jaw-dropping with just a few nips and cuts.

We'll cover that the next time we meet Behind the Lens,

T

The best month to photograph a maternity bump, often referred to as a "maternity belly" or "baby bump," can vary depending on the look you want to achieve. Here are some considerations:

  1. 7-8 Months Pregnant: Many expecting mothers choose to have their maternity photos taken during the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy. At this stage, the belly is typically quite prominent, and the pregnancy is visibly apparent. It's a popular choice because the bump is beautifully round and well-defined.

  2. 6 Months Pregnant: Some women prefer to schedule their maternity photoshoots around the 6th month of pregnancy. At this point, the bump is still noticeable, but the mother may feel more comfortable and mobile than in the later stages of pregnancy.

  3. Personal Preference: I like later stages when belly is more prominent however as the camera can really make things appear larger than they are 8 months is perfecto.

  4. Seasonal Considerations: Think about the weather and the season when scheduling your photoshoot. Some mothers may want to take advantage of certain seasons or scenic locations for their maternity photos.
